Clamped on the quick attempt at a clutch pedal bracket, but it looks like there is still going to be far too much movement in it. The original bracket mount was chopped off so that it would fit under the chassis mounts for the whole pedal box, but thinking about it now it would have been best to leave that on and just chop enough out of it so that it would fit. I'll have to read up on removing the pedal box from a car, and if its not too difficult just get a new clutch cable bracket from a scrappy, otherwise it'll have to be some really beefy home-made thing...

Got my brother to pick up a cheap pair of Dellorto 40's for me
from
The Toy Shop
in Newcastle, which should be a bit more
reliable than from a freeads newspaper, and a lot cheaper than
brand new. Apparently they are off a 1600 Crossflow, which was
bored out to 1760, so looks like they probably won't have the
right bits in for a 2.1 Pinto. Now just need a manifold,
linkage, and service kit for them, and some vaguely correct
jets etc. to get it going well enough to pass SVA until it can
be set up properly on a rolling road.

After picking up the carbs at the weekend, I made a start on
cleaning them, as they are fairly dirty on the
outside. Hopefully they are alright on the inside...
25/10/2000
Took the carbs apart just enough to find out what bits are in
them so I know what I will need to replace. They contain:
28/10/2000
Finished cleaning the first pair of carbs.
29/10/2000
Cleaned the second pair of carbs.
